Crit Club
Crit Club is held every last Thursday of the month
Gallery Y at the Anthony Bowen Branch YMCA
1325 W St NW, Washington, DC
Crit, short for critique, is a form of feedback standard in art school but is rarely practiced outside the classroom walls or beyond paywalls. We offer a safe, free space for creatives to talk about their work in a low-stakes, constructive environment. This gathering is intended for visual artists, but any creative is more than welcome to come and share. I (Addie) will have my iPad if you want to email me (addiethenomad@gmail.com) beforehand some images to share, or bring work in person (but this is so not required). This is mostly a practice of sharing and discussing our work in a constructive, supportive community. Here's a video on how to critique! We always use positive, specific, and productive language when speaking to others about their work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZJDdfJHKxM
Limited capacity, please RSVP

      Craft and Memory Art Workshop
Memory Landscapes by Addie Moore
Homme Gallery, 2000 L St NW
RSVP not required.
Welcome to an art workshop at Memory Landscapes, an exhibition by Addie Moore at HOMME Gallery.
All ages welcome to this come-and-go workshop exploring clay and paper-mache techniques to create small artworks about our memories of home.
September 19-28, 2025
Gallery Hours: Saturday & Sunday, 12 - 5 PM or by appointment.
Through large-scale paper-mache, ceramic sculpture, and drawings, Addie explores the idea of home and belonging. This body of work speaks to the journey we all take to find our own way. It touches on moments passed, missed, or misremembered, reflecting on the spaces we can never return but will always long for. In an attempt to resemble safety and belonging based on these memories, we look for our worth in others' eyes and try to enter that room without ever having been given the key.
This project was funded by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities

Addie Moore is an interdisciplinary illustrator living in Washington, DC. Her practice is an act of play and personal reflection, often like a diary recording experiences and landscapes of anxiety and personal struggles with memory, anxiety, emotional recovery, neurodivergence, and escapism. Through layering, color, and image, she harnesses emotion and distorts memory, inviting the viewers to reflect on the complexities of the human experience through ceramic, mixed media, paper-mache, and digital processes.

Handle With Care at Gallery Y
The three artists in Handle with Care—Abdulrahman Naanseh, Adam Chamy, and Addie Moore—explore resilience through powerful, deeply personal work. Themes of anxiety, isolation, insomnia, displacement, and fear—often quietly endured—are brought into the open. This exhibit is a reminder that these challenges are more common than we think. It also affirms that through community and creative expression, we can find strength, healing, and connection.

      Crit Club
Crit Club hosts the art community by engaging in conversation about the development of work and life as an artist. Hosted every last Thursday of the month from 6:30 - 8:30 pm., artists are asked to bring physical art, sketches, or digital images of what they’re exploring in their art practice. Creatives of all experience levels are encouraged to join for constructive feedback and to build community. Crit, short for critique, is a form of feedback standard in university art education but is rarely practiced outside the classroom walls or beyond paywalls. Crit Club offers a safe, free space for creatives to speak about their work in a low-stakes, constructive environment, creating opportunities to work through conceptual ideas before interactions in professional settings such as exhibitions and studio visits.
